So You’re New to the St. Cloud Rugby Club

  • This guide is to help you understand the Club activities and provide important information regarding your player registration. Take a moment to read it and ask anyone within the club should you have questions.

I. Getting CIPP'ed:

  • CIPP (Club and Individual Player Participation) is needed if you plan on playing rugby. It's USA Rugby's way of tracking players and ensuring the safety of the game. This will cost approximately $35 USD per year.
  • ALL PLAYERS MUST BE CIPP’ED no exceptions. If you are not CIPP’ed you will not play.

To register, go to this link: https://membership.usarugby.org/default.aspx (Make sure your pop-up blocker is off)

  1. Click on the "Create/Renew Individual Membership" link (Have your debit/credit card handy.)
  2. On the next 3 pages, enter your information and accept the waiver
  3. Then, on the next page, register yourself as a "Player,” a "Senior" for the (Type Exactly): "St. Cloud Senior Men's Rugby Club" (Make sure you enter for the senior club rather than the college club)
  4. Then click Save and continue to the checkout.

  • We will gather contact information from you (phone and email) to contact you about dates and other information regarding Club activities.

Here are some great ways to stay informed on important events:

III. Equipment

  • When you show to your first practice; wear clothing that you can run in (e.g. running shorts or sweatpants) and a shirt that you wouldn’t miss if it were to be torn. Cleats are strongly suggested; however for practice running shoes will be fine. On game day, jerseys will be provided by the club; you will be issued shorts and socks before your first game at no cost, replacement socks and shorts do have a cost. Also, if you have a mouth guard; have it formed and ready for practice and games.

IV. Practice Info

  • We practice Tuesdays and Thursdays starting mid-March (Spring Season) and August 1st (Fall Season) at 6PM at our pitch. If you need time to change, extra stretching, etc, be there early as practice STARTS at 6 sharp. Practice usually runs until dark and on Thursdays, we usually go down to the Rox/Tav to support our sponsor. "You don't have to drink, but you are encouraged to come and socialize."
  • The church next door has asked us not to park in their lot, but you may drive on the field. Please exercise discretion when driving on the park.A
  • As far as weather goes, we have the policy of "If we play in it, we'll practice in it." So, practice is usually rain or shine.

V. Game Info

  • Our kickoff time is typically 1PM on Saturdays: for Home games, we usually need players there at around 11:30 for warm-ups, getting the field ready, and go over game-time issues. After the match, we ALWAYS go down to the Rox/Tav for a social with the other team. We encourage all family, friends, and fans to join us for games!
  • We do travel about 50% of the time, most travel is within a two hour drive and we return later in the day. If we do travel beyond; arrangements are made and players chip in to cover the cost of hotels and gasoline (approx $20USD per trip). We ask that you make arrangements with your work and family to be available to travel.

VI. Player Dues

  • First year players (Rookies) are exempt from paying club dues. This allows starters to “try beforethey buy”; this does not apply to the CIPP mentioned before, ALL PLAYERS MUST BE CIPP’ED no exceptions. Dues are collected in the Fall or Spring (depending on your start date); Annual
  • Dues are approximately $150USD

VII. Feeders "Gear"

  • We currently have an account with Cafepress for our t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc... So if you're interested in buying some visit www.cafepress.com/feedersrugby
